Portrait Ideas for Reconnecting with your Family

There are many blogposts out there that talk about moms needing to get in pictures with their kids. It's important! I truly believe that it is and not just because I'm a photographer.  Our kids love seeing their connection with their parents through imagery. My kids could sit and look at pictures for hours. We talk about what they were doing, how old they were, where we were, their expressions, what they remember...it sparks so many great conversations.

It also strengthens those memories. They want to see us in their pictures. They want to see how we connected to them. So if you shy away from the camera, I urge you to be brave and jump into the frame with them. Your kids will thank you for it.

Let's talk about different options for sessions where you are part of the experience.

*Portraits with your kids- This session can go in many different ways. It can be dressy or casual, formal or lounging. I want you to have fun with your kids. Why not have a dance party session? What about cuddling on the couch and reading a story or a beautiful B&W session just holding and snuggling your kids close. You may even consider doing a one-on-one session with each of your kids individually.

*Portraits of just your kids and their favorite activities.  You can create a whole session around what your kids love to do.  This helps them feel extra special and know that you are displaying their interests and are proud of them.

*Fine Art Session- Want something that is more creative and magical.  A fine art session lets you choose what type of creativity you want to bring to your session. It can be as simple as a beautiful connected portrait in formal attire, or a series at your favorite place to be with your family.  We will create master art pieces that show the magic of your family.

There are so many beautiful moments to capture during the simple acts of connecting with your kids. And this will also create a memory that your kids will be able to look on forever.  The great thing about booking this session for a future date is getting it on the calendar.  When you put something down, you are more likely to follow thru with it.  Second, we do a whole design consultation to plan out exactly what you want for this session.  No more questioning what to do with your portraits or how they should look. I will help you plan out the perfect session and exactly how and where you want to display these images.

One of my absolute favorite ideas is a Generations Portrait Session

Create a Legacy! Our family is important to us. They are our support system, our heritage, our history. Let's bring them together for a portrait that will be passed down through generations. This session can also have many different variations depending on your family. A simple session with you and your mother; a 3 or 4 generations session with your kids, mom and grandmother; or an extended family session. There are so many different options you can do to make it a truly special every time.

My favorite part of our family portraits every year is getting images with each of my kids and all of us together.  You have a very different relationship with each of your children so when you take some time to do portraits with just each one, and then as a whole, you get to document that to have for future years.  We all know that time is not on our side, and our children are only little once.  Capture those unique qualities together and make sure you get something you can see everyday to remind you just how magical that time really is.

Once you've had your session, it's time to get those images displayed! Did you know there are studies that prove that having wall portraits of your family and children actually boost their self esteem and sense of belonging? Images are powerful! You can think about every time your child walks by those portraits on the wall, that they feel connected. That is such a simple way to always show your kids how much they mean you.

I have many options for displaying your images: from albums to wall portraits. Thats the joy of our design consultation. We can design your images to fit in exactly the type of products you want to purchase. I can even show you what the images will be like in your own home. Then when you come for your ordering appointment after your session, this part will be super easy. All that is left is to pick out your favorite images for the products that we planned for.

Groupings - Single Wall Portrait  - Albums - Image boxes - Easel & Mated Display Prints. There are so many more options than a USB of images that get uploaded to facebook and then die on your device or computer. I firmly believe you shouldn't need electricity to view the images of people you love.

If you have been putting off your session, now is your reminder! lets get this booked so we can create these memories in a form you can see and enjoy everyday!
